WHAT WE DO

The NJSBM was established by statute in 1941, the New Jersey Employer-Employee Relations Act, as an independent agency housed within the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The Board's primary mission is the prevention or prompt settlement of labor disputes involving private sector employers, private employees, and unions that represent private employees and to promote labor and management harmony and peace. Occasionally, the Board addresses labor relation disputes of public sector employers not covered by the Public Employment Relations Commission.
